Week Six in Nicaragua

This is our last week in Nicaragua for this trip and it brings us to our last ministry opportunity.  We are visiting

Visiting a home

the village of El Crucero in the mountains.  There are two days of home to home evangelism and three nights of services.  The evangelism was invigorating because there was a steady cool wind blowing.  Get in the shade and it actually felt comfortable.  The village is very rural so there was more distance between the homes than most of our other evangelism.  We walked as needed and stopped at many houses.  There were 4 salvations over the two day period.  The services at night were also a little different.

Being up in the mountains, it actually got cool (almost cold).  This is the first time on the trip we were not in the heat for 24 hours a day.  The first two nights of service were held in a small temporary building.  The church had the roof blown off during the last hurricane (which was several years ago).  Gene brought the message the first night and Connie (our travel classmate from Charis) brought the message the second night.  Service on the third night brought even

more changes.  We met in the main church building without a roof.  It took some extra preparation.  The walls had to be scaled to hang lights for the service.  After all was completed, Robin delivered a great message.  After service, we had shoes to give out to the children of the village.  There were smiles everywhere you looked.

Our time in Nicaragua is quickly drawing to a close.

As you read this, we have already returned from Nicaragua.  This has been an outstanding time of ministry and learning.  Needed preparation for our next step in God’s plan.  This trip definitely proved that learning the language is essential to ministering to the people.  We worked with translators but that is less effective and very costly.

Our next step takes us to Honduras for Spanish language study. The current plan is to spend six months completely immersed in the Spanish language and culture. This study will cost approximately $3000 per month.  That is the complete budget.  It covers everything from tuition to room and board to anything else needed.  After this training, we will be ready for our next direction from God.

Please remember us in Prayer as we take this next big step for the kingdom.

Blessings

Gene & Robin Willis
