The Lord is Faithful

Sharing the heart of Jesus in Honduras.

Thanksgiving

We enjoyed Thanksgiving this year at the language school in Siguatepeque with other students, alumni and missionaries from the area.  The food and fellowship were great.  We missed being in the states with our family and friends there but are so thankful for new friends and our school family and enjoyed a traditional Thanksgiving meal of turkey, ham, casseroles, and all the fixings.  Our God supplies all our needs, (wants, desires and even our traditions) as we walk with Him, praise His name!

La Ceiba – California Team

During the Month of November, we had an opportunity to return to La Ceiba Honduras to work with our friends at White Fields.  They were hosting a team from California.  We spent the week serving the team as they taught the children, interacted with the elderly, and spread the good news to all those around them.  After our time in La Ceiba with the California team, it was time to return to Siguatepeque.  This trip back we had some hitch-hikers.  Vicky Skelton and Wes Philpot (intern), from White Fields, returned with us for a short visit.  It was the first time Wes had been to Siguatepeque and was the first time Vicky had seen our apartment and visited the language school.  We had a great time with them and were sad to see them leave.  But they had to get back to La Ceiba.

Doctor visit – Lexi

One day while talking with our friends from Camasca, Honduras, we were given an opportunity to help a young girl with some medical needs.  Our friends knew a family from the Santa Cruz area, about a two-hour drive from us, who needed to see a doctor, she has knots on her feet that might need to be removed.  So, we were able to carry her and her mother to see a specialist.  All turned out well.  The report from the doctor was that it was not a major issue and did not need surgery.  It was something that she would eventually out grow.  Good news!  We carried them back home and were thankful of the outcome.

Again, we thank all of you who prayed and gave so that we could get a truck. Having a truck has been such a blessing to us and for many of our friends. We have been able to help some move, help some get to the airport with all their luggage, help take fellow students to the grocery store, bank and out to eat, with the truck we have been able to go and minister and serve others. God’s goodness never ends! When we seek Him, He has the perfect answer and supplies all our needs.

Finding our place

On December 2, we moved into the mountain city of La Esperanza, Honduras. It is a city about an hour and 15 minutes from where we attended school in Siguatepeque. We first visited this city about a year ago and fell in love with it. It was our desire to live here but we sought God and His will.  After a year of language school, although our language skills are weak, we felt the tug in our hearts to move on.  A couple of months ago, friends told us of a house under construction in La Esperanza so we went for a visit. Things just fell into place and we are now living in that house! The house is beautiful, it has large rooms, tile floors and a beautiful wood ceiling throughout the entire house. There are still a few things left to be done on the house but we have electricity, running water, a secure fence and a beautiful home to live in. In Honduras because the weather is usually warm, most houses do not have heating or air-conditioning, we have neither. Here in the mountains the weather is cooler so we do have blankets to use and sweaters to keep us warm.

We believe this is the area that the Lord has placed us in for recovery and discipleship ministry. Some of you may remember the dream Gene talked about having while here in Honduras.  It was about a year ago.  “In my dream, I saw a man standing in a field.  Actually, it was just an open area in the middle of a remote aldea (village) in the mountains.   He looked lost or like he was looking for something or somewhere but was confused.  The Lord told me that there are many missionaries in Honduras making disciples and helping the children and youth, and that is excellent and exactly what I have guided them to do, but I want you to look to this ‘lost’ generation of adults.  They are my children and I love them as much as the young ones.  Some of them are in churches and some of them are not.  But there are a lot of them who do not know me.  I do not want to tell them, ‘I never knew you, depart from me’ (Mat 7:21-23).  ‘I want you to show them who I am so I can welcome them into my presence.’”  Well, we have been looking for that man for a year now.  We still have not found him.  But we believe that God is leading us closer to that place.  One step at a time.

Our prayer is that we can reap a harvest of souls for the Kingdom. Encourage and strengthen those weak in spirit and that our home will be a place where friends can visit, relax and be renewed in their spirit.

Christmas

We will not get to see or talk with most of you during this Christmas season.  So, we wish each one of you a very Merry Christmas.  Enjoy the time with your family and friends.  But most of all enjoy and spend time with the birthday boy himself, Jesus Christ.

We love and appreciate each of you! Keep your eyes on Jesus, follow Him and love others.

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.  Matthew 6:33 NLT
